If the GP feels your symptoms need further investigation a referral to a specialist may be made. There are many common conditions that these symptoms could be linked to, including the possibility of cancer.
Because the referral is urgent, it means that you will be offered an appointment at hospital within four weeks.

Babies
6-8 week baby checks are completed by the GPs. Click here for information about the mother six week postnatal check
Childhood immunisation takes place at the surgery (click here for the immunisation schedule)
Immunisations
There has been a lot of bad publicity about immunisation of children but remember, your child is in greater risk from contracting the disease than he or she is from suffering a reaction to the immunisation.
Appointments are available outside of school hours for young children to attend. We provide extended opening hours to enable people to attend in the morning from 7:30. We are also part of the Hillingdon Confederation and as such have the ability to book a limited number of appointments in the evening from 18:30-20:00, and on weekends 08:00-20:00.
For information on Hillingdon Children’s Physiotherapy Services, Speech and Language Services and Occupational Therapy Services, including advice leaflets in the above areas. There is also an advice line (01895 488200) for parents/carers and a self-referral form.
Meningitis Advice
Symptoms of meningitis can appear in any order. Some may not appear at all. In the early stages, there may not be a rash or the rash may fade on pressure.

To make it easier for pregnant women to access medicines that can be purchased over the counter at pharmacies, the NW London Local Maternity System has worked closely with the Local Pharmacy Committees, Hospital Pharmacy Committees and the CCG Medicines Management Teams to provide a pathway and information that will standardise the advice given by healthcare providers. Women have been consulted and 94% already purchase OTC products in a non-standardised way. Please see the attached document for guidance
